Last summer, PROMETRIKA partnered with Tutoring Plus of Cambridge, a local nonprofit that provides after-school tutoring and mentoring programs for Cambridge youths. Tutoring Plus was founded in 1964 and today serves about 175 students, with support of nearly 150 volunteers. Programs include one-on-one tutoring, as well as enrichment programs for topics ranging from writing to engineering. The programs are always free of cost to the students’ families.
PROMETRIKA believes in the mission and vision of Tutoring Plus and is proud to collaborate in several ways. Over the summer, a school supply drive was held at PROMETRIKA to set students up for success in the new school year. In addition, PROMETRIKA was able to provide monetary support for the academic programs. Employees were also invited to attend a presentation at the office to learn more about Tutoring Plus. Those who were interested could complete interviews right in the PROMETRIKA office for volunteer opportunities at the North Cambridge tutoring site, just down the street from PROMETRIKA.

Assir Abushouk, a statistical programmer at PROMETRIKA, began volunteering with the one-on-one tutoring program after learning about it through PROMETRIKA. He noted, “As a former teacher, one of the best parts of teaching was interacting with students, and I have been missing that in my current role. Tutoring Plus has given me an opportunity to fill that void, but more importantly a chance to be impactful to a group of wonderful students who have the potential to be as successful as their hearts desire.” Through the volunteer program, our employees not only make a positive impact in the community, but also have a unique opportunity for professional development in mentoring and management as they work with the students.
PROMETRIKA values involvement with the Cambridge community and is invested in advancement of education and equal opportunity for all. The partnership with Tutoring Plus has been a wonderful fit, and PROMETRIKA looks forward to continued collaboration in the future.
